Reagents for rapid detection and elimination of RNases and DNases. The detection assays, which are effective for testing lab reagents, equipment, and other lab supplies, can be read visually for qualitative assessment of contamination or quantified using
fluorometry. Two oligonucleotide substrates are offered for nuclease detection,
Nucleases are widely present in research labs and can interfere with experiments that use nucleic acids. Single-stranded RNases are particularly ubiquitous, hard to eliminate, and can rapidly degrade important samples or reagents used in genomics research.
RNaseAlert and DNaseAlert Substrates allow for rapid, sensitive detection of RNases and DNases. These in-house formulated reagents are fluorescence-quenched oligonucleotide probes that emit a fluorescent signal only after nuclease degradation. The assays can be read visually for qualitative assessment of contamination or by fluorometry for a quantitative measurement. Qualitative measurements are useful for testing lab reagents, equipment, and supplies for nuclease contamination. The assays can be used quantitatively to study enzyme kinetics. The RNaseAlert Substrate employs a FAM™ reporter (Em 520 nm), while the DNaseAlert Substrate employs a HEX™ reporter (Em 555 nm).
Use Nuclease Decontamination Solution on and around your workspace to irreversibly inactivate nucleases and reduce contamination risk. It eliminates the need to bake glassware, and can be applied to plastic surfaces which are often difficult to sterilize. Just spray, rinse and let dry, then confidently carry out your experiments.
